Our Story

Bulls for Babies is the brainchild of Jeremy and Sarah Troutwine. Here’s how it all began -
In early 2008 we found out we were expecting. We were very lucky - got pregnant easily, no sickness, no real unusual issues until we went in for our 20 week exam. We were excited to find out we were having a girl! The doctors saw she was measuring a little small but weren’t really worried at that point. They did say I had placenta previa but that should resolve itself over the next few months. Fast forward a few weeks and the complications began. After feeling great for the first 2 trimesters, I began spotting. The doctor put me on strict bedrest as my placenta was showing signs of rupture. I laid around at home for 3 weeks but at 30 weeks my doctor put me in the hospital to be constantly monitored until Addison arrived. We held out for an additional 2 weeks but it was no longer safe to keep her inside. Addison Marian was born over 8 weeks early weighing just 3lbs 1 oz. She was rushed to the NICU where she was placed on a vent, given a feeding tube and hooked up to so many cords and machines. For the first few days of her life, we could only touch her head. We finally got to hold her at a week old. She learned to suck on a pacifier. She learned to breathe on her own. She started to grow. After 9 weeks of so many ups and downs in the hospital, we were finally able to bring her home. Once the dust had settled and we had our routine going, we realized just how lucky we were. That’s when we discovered the March of Dimes. We learned how their research has created medicines to help prevent premature births, procedures to help keep tiny babies alive, and an outlet for moms and dads to learn about parenting. That’s when we knew we had to give back. After a few years of doing random fundraisers, we decided to focus on one large fundraiser, a dart tournament! We have raised over $50k for the March of Dimes over the years and decided to branch out to other children’s charities including Toys for Tots, St Jude’s and The Grady James Foundation. We hope to continue to have the support of our friends, family and dart community this year.
